Daura Refinery Reverse Osmosis Treatment plant
EMCO have successfully commissioned the service water and demineralized water plants supplied for PETROFAC International Limited UAE (PIUL) in REGGANE Algeria. The Package supplies 285 m3/day of service water and 58 m3/day of de-Mineralized & de-oxygenated water for the diverse gas plant utilities and processes. The treatment components to achieve the targeted effluent were the following: Sand filtration, Two pass reverse osmosis, electronic de-ionization & de-oxygenation systems. The design was well planned and optimized in order to minimize the wasted reject water from all systems, ensuring that these reject streams are re-used / recycled for different applications in the plant. Plant was commissioned and handed over in November 2017.

Daura Refinery Reverse Osmosis Treatment plant
EMCO has successfully completed the commissioning of one of the most sophisticated reverse osmosis water system projects in Iraq – the Daura Refinery RO plant. The plant, with a water treatment capacity of 12,000 m3/day, was implemented according to the latest and most stringent oil industry standards amidst a very difficult execution landscape within a very short timeframe. The water treatment plant is fully automated using the latest automation tools from ABB – ABB Freelance 800 DCS System. The plant’s main operation is the treatment of river water to provide high purity water essential for increasing the refined oil capacity needed in Iraq, which is of great strategic importance to the country today.
Operated by the Midland Refineries Co. (MRC), Daura Refinery is located just outside Baghdad. It was constructed in 1953 and started operations in 1955.

EMCO has been awarded the contract for design and execution of a 16,000 m3/day wastewater treatment plant for recycling of wastewater in the Marjayoun – Al Khiyam region of South Lebanon into much needed irrigation water protecting the Litani river from pollution while providing the Khiyam agricultural plains with much needed irrigation water. The treatment plant will utilize Primary, Secondary and Tertiary filtration treatment as well as Sludge dewatering to produce clean water suitable for unrestricted irrigation.

Oyoun Al Gawa – Qassim, KSA
Oyoun Al Gawa (Qassim, KSA), Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis Plant
The treatment process is based on reverse osmosis system with brackish water low energy membranes. The plant is designed to treat two sources of wells water, one source is from wells within the premises of the treatment plant (Old wells) and the other source is from wells located far outside the premises of the treatment plant (New wells).
As quality of wells water on both the sources are different, they are stored in separate compartment of the raw water tank and treated separately and then blended after the RO Blocks for post treatment and then send to the product water storage tanks.
The old wells water has TDS of 589 mg/l, and the new wells water has TDS of 577 mg/l. The treatment plant consists of total 4 RO Blocks, two RO Blocks each for treating old wells water and new wells water, each RO Block of capacity 8,000 m3/d as RO product water. On permeate of RO Blocks from the old wells, 1000m3 of filtered water from the old wells is blended, whereas on permeate of RO Blocks from the new wells, 10,000 m3 of filtered water from the new wells is blended to produce total of 43,000 m3/d of product water from the treatment plant. The recovery rate from the 4 RO Blocks is 85% and the overall conversion rate of the treatment plant is 88.39%.
Objective of the treatment is to remove suspended solids and to bring down TDS, radioactive elements Radium Ra226+228 and Radon Rn222 and various other contaminants present in the wells water, in order to make the water suitable for drinking as per WHO potable water standards.

Shamassiya – Qassim, KSA
Shamassiya (Qassim, KSA), Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis Plant
The process of treatment is based on reverse osmosis system with brackish water membranes with pretreatment by ultra-filtration membranes. The plant is designed to treat the well water having TDS of 2129 mg/l.
The treatment plant consists of 2 main RO blocks each of permeate output 6,825 m3/d. Permeate from the two RO blocks is then blended with ultra-filtered water to produce 15,000m3/d of treated water. The recovery of the RO blocks is 85% and the recovery of the treatment plant with blending is 86.16%.

EMCO Engineering has been awarded the design, supply, programming, implementation, installation, testing, commissioning, three years operation and maintenance for SCADA system in order to ensure proper and efficient operation of water distribution network by monitoring and controlling 100+ distributed sites comprising of pumping stations, Wells and reservoirs.This project being funded by the World Bank, EMCO Engineering was selected among 12 International and local companies to execute the project.The Scope includes the installation, configuration, programming, testing and commissioning of Flowmeters, pressure transmitters, Reservoir Level transmitters, Diesel Tank level transmitters, valves Motorized actuators, UPS, PLC/RTU Panels. 3G/WIMAX Routers, SCADA central Room comprising redundant servers, operator workstations and Network infrastructure. The communication between the remote sites and the SCADA central station is ensured via DNP3 protocol over 3G and WIMAX communication infrastructure.Significant number of sites has been successfully commissioned and put into operation. Balance sites are forecasted to be completed by August 2018.”

SWCC – Jubail, KSA
SWCC (Jubail, KSA), Product Water Treatment Expansion Project (Remineralization Plant)
14000 m³/hr of distillate water from SWCC MSF desalination plant is diverted to the Remineralization plant as raw water.
CO2 gas is injected on the main feed header to render the water acidic hence aggressive to dissolve the limestone.
The Remineralization plant is split into three identical streams. Each stream has a capacity of 4667 m3/hr composed of 8 no. limestone dissolver filters.
A backwash recovery system consisting of several tanks used to clarify the wastewater hence recycles it via pumps to the main feed header for maximum water usage and reducing the drain flow.
Refilling of the limestone into the filters is done using a complete limestone filling and discharge system consisting of silos, pumps and specialized equipments for that purpose.
Effluent from each Remineralization stream header is joined together in return product line feeding SWCC product water storage tanks. Treated water is being pumped to Riyadh city as potable and service water.
